NZ Hike + Road Trip with Sydney Hiking!
November 6 @ 3:00 pm - November 20 @ 3:00 pm
NZ has confirmed to be open up to Aus for this year (after April 19th!) with no quarantine and vaccination needed.
The dates planned out are a rough estimate but will most likely be it.
This is a roadtrip across NZ (both North & South) doing some of the best day hikes it has to offer. We will also have days off from hiking where we do other activities (such as visit hobbiton, gokart in queesntown, bungee jump?) or have chill down time exploring local culture, food, bars etc.
The day hikes we will be doing include :
Tongariro Alpine Crossing (27km, elev 1520m)
Huka Falls to Aratia Rapids (16km, elev 320m)
Hunua Range Regional Park (23km, elev 977m)
Angelus Circuit in Saint Arnaud (40km, elev 1785m)
Alex Knob and Christmas Lookout in Franz Josef (15km, elev 1081m)
Roys Peak in Wanaka (17km, elev 1305m)
Ben Lomond in Queesntown (15km, elev 1427m)
Routeburn Track (23km, elev 500m)
Mount John walkway in Lake Tekapo (9km, elev 377m)
You will need to be fit as some days have no break in between them.
Have done a harder* difficulty hike with either me or Rob
Good attitude, sometimes things changes spontaneously, don’t beat up about it.
Flights will be around $500 return (self book)
Car + Fuel share will be total $250pp across the 2 weeks if we get a decent group
Accomodation: Est $50 a night pp so around $700
Ferry from Wellington to Picton: $90 pp including the car.
Your own travel insurance ($ self book)
Once I can finalise numbers, we can book the cars (will need other drivers as well) and sort out accomodation. Cap at 16.
I have the itinerary sorted out. But those are the dates so far I have planned, before school holidays and before summer so weather will be great.
Note, if you are short on time, you can do the south side and meet us pre ferry at Wellington on the 11th morning or do the north side and fly out of Wellington on the 11th
