Overnight Camp/Hike @Acacia Flat CG, Climb as much as you want.
August 7 @ 9:00 am - August 8 @ 4:00 pm
Description: We will meet at Perrys Lookdown CG with your overnight gear, walk down to Acacia Flat CG and setup camp here. From here you have the option to do as much of the ascent as you like (less load after setting up camp). I intend to go up and down shortridge pass 3 times and Perrys Track (including the mandatory one with heavier load) 3 times over the 2 days. I will show you the way to Lockley Pylon the first time around before descending back to the Acacia CG, from here, we’ll do a short detour to junction rock before coming back and then you have the option to climb up and down again (Perry’s or Shortridge) at your own will as many time as you like.
Min Distance: 7km with one large 600m hill to climb (Perry’s Track up and down, this is done with a heavier load)
Max: I intend to cover shortridge and perrys track 3 times over the two days. So thats 6 large ascent, roughly 4000m elev. If you can keep up with my pace, feel free to do the same (or more!).
ETA my pace: down Perrys: 30 mins, up 45 minutes.
Shortridge is longer as harder to fast jog down with loose rocks and more ‘gradual’ ascend.
Diffuclty: Hard. This is an extremely good training walk to get your endurance up and build your leg muscles. If you want to see what true elevation is, this is a good hike. Perfect training for Oxfam or whatever you want.
Hiking Poles might helps here, especially descending (maybe from shortridge), Perrys Track is mainly stairs.
Water: Grose River (filter and purify recommended)
Weather: ? (probs change if to hot or raining)
